across the universe

so i finally got to watch 'across the universe' over the weekend, TWICE! :) what is it with movies like these.....moulin rouge blew me away, chicago was nice, grease 1 & 2 are still so fresh in my memory, rent was different, sound of music, my fair lady.....all these movies did something. i think its the breaking-out-in-song thingy which gives goose bumps to me, i think its the fitting in of songs into a story and the intensity that music gives, that makes me love such movies.

a movie to me is a transportation into another dimension, inside someone elses head, a place which is unreal, where emotions are hightened, where every movement, every kiss, every touch, everything that we can do in real life, is done with far more smoothness than imaginable.....making it so real that you can actually feel....you can actually live that part, even if its for a couple of hours.....

so as i watched lucy sing 'if i fell' the song took on a whole new meaning for me...i dont know if i am more a visual person but as i heard the words come out of her mouth, watched her eyes as they followed Jude walking alongside....

And I would be sad if our new love was in vain

and then at the end when sadie is singing 'dont let me down' on the roof of a building and the cops come and stop them.....jude some how manages to get on the roof and starts singing 'all you need is love'....it reminded me of ewan singing the 'elephant love medley'....

i like getting away from reality....even if its for a while....
